Fusillade de Las Vegas: des armes et des explosifs trouvés chez le tireur, ses motifs toujours inconnus

Des armes à feu, des explosifs et des munitions ont été trouvés chez le tireur qui a tué 59 personnes et fait 527 blessés selon un bilan toujours provisoire. Son mobile reste inconnu mais un responsable américain a évoqué des antécédents psychiatriques.

Les enquêteurs ont trouvé au domicile de l'assaillant, à Mesquite, à 120 kilomètres de Las Vegas, "plus de 18 armes à feu supplémentaires, des explosifs et plusieurs milliers de munitions".

La police a découvert des armes à feu, des explosifs et des milliers de munitions chez le tireur de Las Vegas, qui a commis la fusillade la plus sanglante de l'histoire des Etats-Unis, ont indiqué les enquêteurs. Au moins 59 personnes ont été tuées et 527 blessées.

Le précédent bilan faisait état de 58 morts et 515 blessés. L'attaque a été revendiquée par l'Etat islamique. Près d'une douzaine de personnes se trouvent dans un état critique à l'hôpital universitaire de Las Vegas, où sont soignés tous les blessés, a annoncé lundi une porte-parole.

Les autorités ont prévenu que ce bilan était provisoire, de nombreux spectateurs ayant fui le site de la fusillade et trouvé refuge un peu partout dans la ville.

 

 

Les enquêteurs ont trouvé au domicile de l'assaillant, à Mesquite, à 120 kilomètres de Las Vegas, "plus de 18 armes à feu supplémentaires, des explosifs et plusieurs milliers de munitions, ainsi que des appareils électroniques que nous étudions en ce moment", a indiqué le shérif de Las Vegas Joseph Lombardo.

Motifs toujours inconnus

Cet arsenal s'ajoute aux au moins seize armes à feu découvertes dans sa chambre de l'hôtel Mandalay Bay à Las Vegas, a-t-il précisé. Les enquêteurs n'ont pour l'instant pas trouvé de message du suspect pouvant expliquer son acte. "Nous n'avons aucune idée de ses croyances (religieuses, NDLR)", a ajouté le shérif, précisant qu'il n'était pas connu des services de police.

 

 

Perché au 32e étage du Mandalay Bay, le tireur, un Américain blanc de 64 ans, comptable à la retraite, a ouvert le feu à l'arme automatique sur une foule de 22'000 personnes, qui assistaient à un concert de musique en plein air à côté l'hôtel dimanche soir. Il s'est ensuite apparemment suicidé avant que les policiers ne l'atteignent.

L'EI a affirmé, via son organe de propagande Amaq, que l'homme s'était converti à l'islam il y a plusieurs mois et qu'il en était un "soldat", sans toutefois étayer cette affirmation. Aucun élément ne permet "jusqu'à présent" d'établir un lien entre le tireur de Las Vegas et une quelconque organisation terroriste, a cependant déclaré le FBI. Un responsable américain a quant à lui évoqué des "antécédents psychiatriques" de l'assaillant.
